BE2100 Calibration

The software supplied with the BE2100 Biomass Monitor can help you to calibrate the BE2100 output to any desired units (OD, g/L, cells/mL, etc.). This is accomplished by collecting samples for off-line analysis at the same time that you are monitoring a run with the BE2100. The software allows you to enter the reference readings at the same time that you are running the fermentation or, if you prefer, after it is complete. In subsequent runs the
calibration is applied and your BE2100 readings are automatically converted into your desired units. The graph above shows the result for an E. coli fed-batch culture that was calibrated to OD units based on a prior run.
BE2100 communication with the software is accomplished through USB or an RS-232 serial port. There are also two 4-20mA analog output ports. The first is proportional to the OD displayed on the BE2100. The second of which can be used to monitor growth rate. The 4-20 mA output can easily be changed to a 2-10V output (using the supplied 500 Ohm resisitors).
